Greater St. Louis MGMA Gives Back to the Community
A few years ago our board of directors decided that as an organization we should find a way to give back to the community that we and our patients live in. As our President, I am charged with the task of deciding which charity the organization will pledge support. This year I have selected Lydia’s House.
I have worked to support Lydia’s House through personal efforts and through my IT company, Healthcare Technology Advisors and am excited to be able to extend the reach of support through The Greater St. Louis MGMA as our Past-President Greg Thompson started last year.
Domestic violence effects households across all our communities and during this current pandemic situation is affecting the victims’ ability to get help even more drastically so our help is needed more than ever to support mechanisms to provide assistance to them and their children.
Lydia’s House provides services to help end domestic violence through providing facilities to facilitate healing and a voice of hope for the abused women and children they serve. They are always in need of supplies to give the people they serve so they can rebuild their lives and homes. Previously we have collected items at the annual conference and holiday events to help facilitate meeting these goals and plan to do such again provided we can meet in person for the conference and holiday meeting. Otherwise, we do intend to coordinate a donation drive to help if we are still in a virtual mode to support the safety of ourselves during this pandemic.
I am facilitating an effort and leveraging several of the organizations networks in which I serve to raise money in my effort to Paddle for a Cause to support victims of domestic violence. You may ask yourself, what is a Paddle for a Cause?
My campaign is done in conjunction with an ultra-marathon paddle race from Kansas City to St. Louis on the Missouri River called the MR340. It is a 340 mile paddle race with many checkpoints along the way. My boat will have Lydia’s House branding on it and my support team’s vehicle will have the same along with additional materials available to share with people along the way. 100% of every penny donated goes directly to Lydia’s House to support their mission to help victims of domestic violence. My team is 100% funded by me to ensure we maximize all donations for our community.

On behalf of The Greater Saint Louis MGMA I would like to thank you for all you do for your practice, patients and our community!
