Give Extra Life
As a rare two-year President of Greater St. Louis MGMA, I have the privilege of choosing Charity of the Year twice. With last year’s choice, Ronald McDonald House, we not only raised money and donated items, more importantly we donated our time. Participating in the Family Dinner Program led our group to impact others in a real one-on-one way. The families staying at Ronald McDonald House’s West Pine location received a home-cooked meal and our members that participated got to know each other a little better.
I feel that one of the best parts of participating in the Charity of the Year is the connection with other practice managers and business partners. This year’s theme, “Unity in Community”, is the perfect way to describe these events. We absolutely become closer as a group when we come together to help others.
This year I have chosen Extra Life as our Charity of the Year. Extra Life unites 1000's of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Since it’s inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $40 million for sick and injured kids.
This year’s Extra Life will take place on Saturday, November 3rd. I will be creating a group on the Extra Life website where individual Greater St. Louis MGMA members can raise funds for St. Louis Children’s Hospital while we play board games. The time and location for our event is to be determined. As soon as we have all the details locked down, we will post the information on our Facebook page, website, and newsletter. For those who cannot make the in-person event, there will be a booth at the Annual Conference with information on where to donate from our group.
I hope many of my fellow members will enjoy board games and each other’s company for a good cause on November 3rd.
